Boston-based. Community-funded. Community-powered.

Community Education. Community Employment. Community Empowerment.

Community Learning Project is a grassroots tutoring and tutor-training initiative built for community families in Dorchester, Roxbury, Mattapan, and Hyde Park.

The model

For the people. Run by the people. Accessible to the people.

We are building a tutoring model that closes educational gaps while creating paid local work. Students receive consistent academic support, tutors receive paid training and coaching, and families participate through an accessible contribution of $5 per week or $20 per month.

Community Education

Students receive support in math, reading and writing, executive functioning, history/global studies, and foreign language.

Community Employment

Tutors are recruited locally, paid for their time, and trained through a practical, supportive pathway.

Community Empowerment

Families, tutors, donors, and neighbors help build an educational ecosystem that stays rooted in the community.

For families

Support for students who need more than school can always provide.

We aim to serve children and families in Dorchester, Roxbury, Mattapan, and Hyde Park who need tutoring but may not be able to afford traditional private rates.

Students can receive help in at least two subject areas per week, depending on need, goals, and tutor fit.

For tutors

You do not need to come in perfect. You need to come in committed.

Community Learning Project will train local community members in tutoring practice, professional conduct, lesson planning, child interaction boundaries, behavior support, and multimodal learning.

This is a pathway into paid work, professional growth, and community leadership.
